Erasmus+ European Project
Community Media for E-Volunteering on Climate Change
ECO-Media – Community Media for E-Volunteering on Climate Change is a highly innovative 24-month project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, starting on the 1st of December 2021 and estimated to be completed on the 1st of December 2023!
ECO-Media project’s goals are:
a) to teach social and youth workers, school guides, mentors, tutors, and other professionals who work with youth, how to use community media as a tool to improve the quality of their work and communication,
b) to empower young people and provide them with useful e-learning sources, and to
c) raise awareness about other volunteer approaches, such as e-volunteering and digital activism, with a focus on climate change. The project’s nodal focus is climate change, which, together with environmental sustainability, is one of the most pressing concerns facing modern society.
To achieve the above, the major objectives of this project are the following:
1. Improving digital skills and community media literacy among professionals who engage with youth, such as social and youth workers, mentors, trainers, tutors, and school guides.
2. Raising awareness on climate change through the participation of youth in e-volunteering activities, leveraging community media as an innovative tool, and establishing an ad hoc e-learning platform.
The consortium of the project consists of 6 partners: Ayuntamiento de la Palma Del Condado (Spain), Wisefour Innovation and Development Organisation Ltd (Cyprus), Enjoy Italy Di Alessandro Gariano (Italy), Vienna Association of Education Volunteers (Austria), Institute of Entrepreneurship Development (Greece), Kestävän Kehityksen Instituutti Ry (Finland), which cover all areas of expertise necessary to achieve the objectives and activities of the project, from 6 different countries. The project is totally aligned with the EU Commission priority for “a Europe fit for the digital age: empowering people with a new generation of technologies”, as well as EU Commission’s “European Green Deal”, i.e., projects funded under the Erasmus+ programme that contribute to actions regarding climate change.
The Kick-Off Meeting of the Eco-Media Project – the first Meeting of the project, was conducted in 1st of April 2022 and 8th of April 2022 online via Zoom with great success!
