Horizon europe
📍 Location: Brussels, Belgium
🗓️ Dates: 7–8 October 2025
Wisefour proudly joined the Final Conference and Consortium Meeting of the ALLIANCE Project, held on 7–8 October 2025 in Brussels, Belgium. The two-day gathering marked the culmination of an ambitious three-year Horizon Europe initiative dedicated to strengthening transparency, authenticity, and trust in quality-labelled food supply chains through digital innovation.
A European Effort for Trustworthy and Transparent Food Systems
The ALLIANCE project has brought together research institutions, technology providers, and industry stakeholders from across Europe.
Its primary goal: to fight food fraud, enhance traceability, and empower producers and consumers through data spaces, blockchain technologies, and AI-based tools that guarantee the integrity of agri-food products such as olive oil, honey, cheese, pasta, and more.
The Final Conference: Innovation Meets Policy
On 7 October, the Final Event, titled “A paradigm shift in the management of quality-labelled food supply chains”, took place at the Résidence Palace in Brussels.
The event gathered EU policymakers, researchers, and industry representatives to discuss how innovative digital technologies can reshape Europe’s agri-food systems.
Highlights of the conference included:
- Welcome address by Jon Switters (The Lisbon Council);
- Keynote speech by Ana Patricia Lopez Blanco, from the European Commission’s DG AGRI, on research and innovation in the agri-food sector;
- Policy perspectives from Camilla Laureti, Member of the European Parliament, who underlined the need for transparent and traceable food systems in Europe;
- Presentations of ALLIANCE project results, including the blockchain-based platform for supply chain integrity, the Early Warning System for Food Fraud Detection, and the Digital Knowledge Base for authentic food data;
- A roundtable discussion with representatives from other EU initiatives—TITAN, CUES, and Watson—highlighting collaboration opportunities within the European Cluster for Food Traceability and Trust.
The Consortium Meeting: Final Steps
The following day, on 8 October, partners gathered for the Final Consortium Meeting, where each work package presented its outcomes and discussed final directions and steps for closing the projects.
Topics included:
- Final validation campaigns of pilot cases across Europe (olive oil, honey, feta cheese, organic pasta, raspberries, etc.);
- Dissemination and exploitation strategies to ensure the long-term impact of project results;
- Preparation of the project’s final deliverables and policy recommendations.
Wisefour contributed to discussions around data governance, ethics, and sustainability, reaffirming its commitment to aligning technological progress with human-centric and legal principles.
Building a Future of Trust and Transparency
The ALLIANCE project has demonstrated how data-driven innovation can strengthen consumer confidence, protect geographical indications (PDO/PGI), and support sustainability goals across Europe’s agri-food sector.
Wisefour is proud to have been part of this transformative journey and remains committed to leveraging digital technologies, AI, and data ethics to support a fair, transparent, and secure food economy.
