Green2Grow

Green transition skills for sustainable destination management in response to climate change and loss of biodiversity

The Green2Grow project is focusing on addressing the above challenge, by filling in the skills gap in the tourism ecosystem, related to green transition, specifically among the key players at regional level – namely the Destination management organisations (DMOs). In the highest extent the project contributes to the Programme’s horizontal priority Environment and fight against climate change, as its main objective is related namely to creating a set of green skills among the DMOs and development and introduction of sustainable practices, through piloting innovative, agile and hands-on training programme and further organization of train-the-trainers events for DMOs representatives across the partnering countries with the purpose of generating significant favourable impacts on environment preservation and climate change in the process of planning and development of the regions as touristic destinations, thus contributing to widespreading the new skills among all players across the tourism value chain.

The Green2Grow project will work to deliver the following specific objectives:

  • SO 1: Provide knowledge and experience transfer among member states, by scouting and mapping of sustainability practices relevant to the sector of tourism and development of a set of user-specific guidelines for the vertical and horizontal aspects of tourism sustainability;
  • SO 2: Equip the DMOs with key green skills, enabling them to address their local challenges by developing vocational training pathway on sustainable tourism, to promote the development of low-impact value and supply chains and apply the Circular Economy model in the tourism field to optimise resource consumption and management and to reduce its environmental impact.
  • SO 3: Develop an online training platform with open access to ensure long-term availability and access to training materials, related to specific destination challenges.
